PDF Scanner Privacy Policy

PDF Scanner is a mobile app for iOS and Android that is private by design. Your documents are sensitive, so we built the app to keep them entirely on your device. We do not upload, read, collect, sell or store your files — ever. Only you can see and control your documents, and if you remove the app, everything created in it is permanently gone.

1. Our privacy promise, in short

Because PDF Scanner deals with your personal and often sensitive documents, privacy is the foundation of the app, not an afterthought. Here is the whole policy in one glance:

  • On-device only: Scanning, editing, converting, merging, splitting, compressing and protecting all happen locally on your phone.
  • We keep nothing: We never upload, receive, read, store or back up your documents or their contents on our servers.
  • No account needed: You do not create an account or sign in, so we do not collect a name, email or profile to use the app.
  • You are in control: You choose what to scan, import, keep, share and delete. Nothing happens without your action.
  • Uninstall = erased: Remove the app and every document and setting stored in it is permanently deleted from your device.

2. Everything stays on your device

All of your documents and the work you do on them are processed and stored locally on your device, in PDF Scanner's own app storage. Your files are never transmitted to Space2Code or to any third party as part of using the app.

We have no server that holds your documents, no cloud account tied to your files, and no ability to view, retrieve or recover them. What is on your device stays on your device.

4. You are responsible for your documents

Since your files live only on your device and under your control, you are solely responsible for the documents you scan, import, create and store in PDF Scanner. This includes making sure you have the right to scan or use a document, handling any sensitive information appropriately, and keeping your own backups of anything important.

We cannot access your documents, so we cannot manage, restore or delete them for you.

5. Managing and deleting your documents

You can view, rename, organise, share and delete any document at any time from within the app. Deletion is done entirely by you, on your device.

Because your files are stored locally, deleting a document removes it from your device immediately and permanently. There is no copy on our side to delete, and we cannot recover a document once you have deleted it.

6. What happens when you uninstall the app

All documents, scans and settings created in PDF Scanner are stored inside the app on your device. If you uninstall or remove PDF Scanner, that data is deleted along with the app and cannot be recovered by you, by us, or by anyone else.

If you want to keep any documents before removing the app, export or share them to another location (for example your Files app, email or another device) first.

7. Permissions we request

PDF Scanner asks for a permission only when a feature needs it, and only to do the job you asked for. You can grant or revoke each permission at any time in your device settings; the app keeps working, just with the related feature turned off.

  • Camera: Used only when you scan a document. It is never used in the background, and captured images are turned into PDFs on your device.
  • Photos & files: Used only to import the images or PDFs you specifically pick, and to save or export the files you create.
  • Notifications: Optional. If you allow them, they are used only for helpful in-app events, such as confirming a long task has finished.

8. Information we do not collect

To be completely clear, PDF Scanner does not:

  • Collect, upload or store the contents of your documents.
  • Require or create an account, or collect your name, email address or contacts to use the app.
  • Sell, rent or share your personal information or documents with advertisers or data brokers.
  • Track your documents across devices or sync them to a Space2Code cloud.

9. Anonymous diagnostics

To keep the app stable, we may receive aggregated, anonymous crash reports and basic performance statistics through the Apple App Store and Google Play (for example, that a certain screen crashed on a certain app version). These reports never include the contents of your documents and are not used to identify you. You can limit or turn this off in your device's privacy settings.

10. Device backups you control

If you enable a device backup such as iCloud (iOS) or Google backup (Android), your operating system may include PDF Scanner's local data in that backup. Those backups are managed by Apple or Google under their own policies and settings, not by us. You can control what is backed up in your device settings.

11. Security

Keeping your documents on your device, rather than on a server, is itself a strong privacy protection. For extra safety, PDF Scanner lets you password-protect individual PDFs. We recommend also using your device's own protections — a screen lock or passcode and device encryption — since the security of files on your device ultimately depends on your device. No method of storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

12. Children's privacy

PDF Scanner is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Because the app does not collect personal information or require an account, it does not knowingly gather data from children.

13. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide a clear notice in the app or on this page. Continuing to use PDF Scanner after an update means you accept the revised policy.
